Getting Crafty with Notice Boards

Notice boards are a fantastic way to organise your thoughts and ideas. You can keep track of your to-do lists, or pin pictures to inspire you. It could be as simple as pinning letters or photos from friends and family. A lot of us now use online pin boards, like Pinterest, to keep track of the things we love. For us, there’s something special about having a real notice board close by.

However, we can all agree that the standard cork board isn’t exactly the prettiest way to do it. Instead, you can give things a creative makeover. Turn an ugly cork board into something much more artistic and creative. In this post, we’ll show you one or two ways to get crafty and creative with your pinboard. Let’s jump in and take a look, shall we?

Cut Your Notice Boards into Shapes

The traditional noticeboard is a large rectangle shape, which won’t win any awards for creativity. But, if you take that pinboard, and cut it into 2 round circles, it instantly looks prettier. You could get more creative, and cut them into bespoke shapes. Perhaps, for instance, you could cut them into outlines of the American states. Perfect if you’re planning an American road trip! You could do a similar things with countries. Get creative, and cut out your favourite shapes.

Use Coloured Fabrics to Create Zones

The easiest way to bring life to your notice board is wrapping it in fabric. You can easily put pins through the fabric, so it won’t affect the functionality. But, it will add colour and character to the noticeboard. One extra thing you can do here is create zones with different colours. You can use different shades of red and pink to create different sections. You can then place pins and notes in certain zones. You can have one for work, one for fashion and style, and one for holiday planning.

Add Ribbons to Your Notice Boards

After you’ve covered your notice board in fabric, you can also add some ribbons. Using ribbons, you can create a criss-cross pattern into which you can slot photos and notes. Rather than stabbing pins through your photos, simply slot them into the ribbons. It looks fantastic, and saves you poking holes through everything!

Add Magnetic and Chalk Sections

Ofcourse, you can go one step further and seriously upgrade the notice board functionality. Adding a magnetic section will give you a clean, simple area to add more notes. Meanwhile, you can introduce a chalk section to jot down notes. A small black board is great for shopping lists and to-do notes.

Add Metal Mesh

A final suggestion is using metal mesh to create a contemporary, modern look. Using twisted black mesh, you can create a striking style. Like ribbons, these can hold your notes and pictures without putting holes through them! It works great in a modern kitchen, so try it yourself.
You don’t have to stick to your boring old notice board. Get creative, and try something new. It will look fantastic, and give you even more inspiration.
